Mü18 "Meßkrähe"

This research glider was classified by the Nazi aviation organization RLM to be of particular war-importance. It was designed to fly as a probe beneath a tow plane in order to test different wing profiles in undisturbed airflow. The rigging angle of incidence was adjustable in flight in order to determine various aerodynamical data. The measuring system was attached to the fuselage structure. The Akaflieg Munich built the fuselage, the Akafliegs Chemnitz, Danzig and Göttingen various wing profiles. The tests were successful, but the project later was allotted less importance by the Nazis. At the end of WW2, the tests were dropped.
